Download
Not sure which Linux file? dpkg --print-architecture or uname -m says amd64/x86_64 (Intel/AMD) or arm64/aarch64 (ARM). Each release also has .sha256 files to check the downloads against.
Install
- Download the Windows .zip above.
- Right-click it → Properties → tick Unblock → OK, then unpack it. Windows marks downloaded files and refuses to run what it marked.
- In the unpacked folder, right-click
install-windows.ps1→ Run with PowerShell. It copies 37Studio to%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\37Studioand adds it to the Start menu. No admin rights needed. - Install the tools the agent uses.
- Press the Windows key, type 37Studio and open it. Overview → Finish setup lists anything still missing.
From a terminal instead of right-clicking: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install-windows.ps1. You can also run 37studio.exe straight from the unpacked folder; keep its name, because the agent runs 37studio commands from that folder.
- Download the .deb for your computer above.
- Install it. This also installs ffmpeg and Python if they're missing:
sudo apt install ./37studio_*_amd64.deb
(on an ARM computer, the file ends in_arm64.deb). - Install Claude Code and Node.js 22 or newer.
- Open 37Studio from your app menu. Overview → Finish setup lists anything still missing.
- Install GTK 4 and WebKitGTK 6.0. On Fedora:
sudo dnf install gtk4 webkitgtk6.0
- Download the .tar.gz for your computer above, unpack it and run the program:
tar -xzf 37studio-*-linux-amd64.tar.gz ./37studio
- Install the tools the agent uses. Keep the program's name
37studio: the agent runs it by that name.
Your work is kept in %AppData%\37Studio on Windows and ~/.local/share/37studio on Linux. Links, the timeline editor and social sign-ins open in your browser, and downloads and backups ask where to save.
Tools the agent uses
The Docker version ships these inside its image. The desktop app uses the ones on your computer, so install them once:
| Tool | What for |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | the editor agent, the Assistant, captions and replies |
| ffmpeg | cutting, checking and encoding video |
| Node.js 22 or newer | rendering, previews and the timeline editor |
| Python 3 with venv | transcription and YouTube or Drive imports (about 200 MB more installs itself the first time) |
| Noto fonts (Linux) | Bangla, other scripts and emoji in rendered videos |
| Git for Windows (Windows) | the shell the agent runs its commands through on Windows |
Windows
winget install Git.Git Gyan.FFmpeg OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS Python.Python.3.13 npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
Open a new terminal before the second line, so it finds npm.
Ubuntu and Debian
sudo apt install ffmpeg nodejs npm python3 python3-venv fonts-noto-core fonts-noto-color-emoji sudo npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
Ubuntu before 26.04 and Debian before 13 come with an older Node.js: install version 22 or newer from nodejs.org and leave nodejs npm out of the first line.
Then add your Claude key in Settings → Keys, as in step 4 of the setup guide. Everything after that is the same as the Docker version.
Desktop or Docker?
Both keep their data in a different folder. To move your Docker brands and videos into the desktop app, see docs/desktop.md on GitHub.
Updates and removing
- Updates: Settings → About says when a new version is out. Download it from this page and install it the same way. On Windows, close 37Studio first, then run
install-windows.ps1again. - Remove on Windows:
.\install-windows.ps1 -Uninstall. Your work in%AppData%\37Studiostays. - Remove on Ubuntu or Debian:
sudo apt remove 37studio. Your work in~/.local/share/37studiostays.
Troubleshooting
The agent stops on its first step on Windows
Git for Windows is missing. Install it with winget install Git.Git, then close 37Studio and open it again.
Something is missing
Overview → Finish setup lists each missing tool with the command to install it. After installing, press Check again. On Windows, open 37Studio again so it sees the new PATH.
Ubuntu: the window doesn't open from the app menu
Ubuntu only lets programs with an AppArmor profile use the sandbox the window is drawn in. The .deb from 0.9.1 on adds the profile itself. With 0.9.0 or the .tar.gz, add it once in a terminal (change the path if you unpacked the .tar.gz somewhere else):
app=/usr/lib/37studio/37studio
printf 'abi <abi/4.0>,\ninclude <tunables/global>\nprofile 37studio %s flags=(unconfined) {\n userns,\n}\n' "$(realpath "$app")" | sudo tee /etc/apparmor.d/37studio
sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/37studio
The program doesn't open on Linux
Run ./37studio from a terminal to see why. Usually GTK 4 or WebKitGTK 6.0 is missing: install gtk4 and webkitgtk6.0 (Fedora) or libgtk-4-1 and libwebkitgtk-6.0-4 (Ubuntu, Debian).
